Programs:
Evangelism
Frontier Evangelists - The frontline of FLC's ministry. There are 120 frontier evangelists, trained national Christian leaders, who bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the towns and villages of Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and beyond. They go into remote and sensitive areas of the countries, where foreign missionaries are not allowed. These dedicated evangelists have established hundreds of Christian churches under very difficult circumstances. They bring the light of the gospel to some of the spiritually darkest parts of the world. |
Theological Development
| Kalnin Leadership Center - FLC is in the process of constructing a multi-purpose training campus which will enable tribal leaders to study Bible, English, agriculture, leadership skills, computers and other practical vocations. Also to be rented by other organizations to do their training, hold conferences, retreats, etc. |
The training center will equip leaders to transform Southeast Asia. |
Bible Colleges/Training Seminars -
Equipping evangelists with the Word of God. Frontier Nazareth Bible College in Northern Thailand as well as three Bible Colleges in Putao and Myitkyina, Myanmar, are sponsored by FLC. Bible trainings are held in Chiang Mai at the Kalnin Leadership Center as well as in towns and villages for national evangelists and teachers. FLC utilizes a culturally relevant theological and practical curriculum. The trainings draw on the expertise of pastors, teachers, and skilled workers from North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Special conferences for specific language groups, Christian family seminars, and youth meetings are also part of this training program. |
| Translation – From Bibles to bandages. FLC interpreters are constantly translating Christian literature, Bible study materials, health instructions, agricultural materials, and reports into the tribal languages of the Golden Triangle. With the numerous language groups represented, this is a vital service. In addition, DVDs and Powerpoint presentations on the ministry are prepared for sponsors, and as a tool to teach staff and evangelists various topics. |
Health
| Barefoot Doctors - They still make house calls. FLC holds a three-year medical training school for village leaders from both Thailand and the most remote parts of Myanmar where there are no facilities. Medical doctors and health care professionals train village leaders to perform diagnosis, treat tropical diseases like malaria and tuberculosis, and provide dental care. These leaders are then sent back to their villages with medicines and supplies provided through FLC. The 160 trained Barefoot Doctors have been credited with saving thousands of lives and opening the door for evangelism. Evangelism through medicine. |
Medical Equipment for Hospitals - Is there a doctor in the house? FLC, in conjunction with Project CURE, provides medical equipment and supplies to Myanmar hospitals. Four (containers) deliveries have been made to the remote most northern region Putao hospitals and Yangon General Hospital and several more shipments are underway. An ambulance and generator were donated from the US and delivered to a local hospital in Putao. |
Economic Opportunities
Income Generating Projects - Your morning java may soon come from one of the FLC initiated crop substitution programs in Northern Thailand. This program replaces opium plants with coffee, soybeans, fruit trees, and fish ponds, and has been widely praised by the Thai government. FLC’s saw mill in Putao, Myanmar, provides lumber for constructing new church buildings, bridges and roads. In addition, FLC has 48 acres of mango orchards which provide an income to support FLC projects. |
Educational and Social Development
English Language Instruction (ELI) – Very few places in Chiang Mai offer free English classes, but FLC is one of them. The objective of this project is to extend God’s love to the surrounding community, through offering a highly valued practical skill. Classes adhere to a curriculum based on standard teaching materials. Volunteer teaching staff are from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. |
| Education – FLC believes that educating children is one of the keys to breaking the cycle of poverty. This has resulted in programs such as Frontier Kindergarten, a school that provides basic and Christian instruction to pre-school children, and two Student Centers for impoverished youth to be trained in Thailand. FLC supports educators/teachers in Myanmar, so that they have the means to provide quality education to their students. FLC also sponsors one high school, five kindergartens and one orphanage in Myanmar |
| Home of Blessing - Pastor Sayan and his wife Siriporn run a hostel to house and educate poor, at-risk tribal girls to prevent them from falling into prostitution or otherwise being put in high-risk situations in their villages. The Home of Blessing currently houses 120 girls. |
They are very happy, healthy, and secure. Almost all these girls come from non-Christian homes and now, they have accepted Jesus as their Savior. Not only that, they are witnessing to others in their schools and communities. In fact there have been 2 churches started in the villages as a result of the girls' family members becoming Christians, due to their witness. |
Community Infrastructure
Clean Drinking Water Projects - There's no need for a Brita with this system! As part of FLC's effort to improve the health of the tribal villagers, FLC has initiated and completed 14 clean drinking water projects in northern Thailand that service over a thousand villagers. The quality of drinking water in these remote villages is higher than any other part of the country . |
