Pre-Barefoot Doctors Training
Mae Sai Training School
This school will be held in Mae Sai, Thailand, for evangelists and Christian leaders.
The two-week study program will be for 60 students (15 per course) who are pre-selected for one of the following four courses:
- Biblical Studies—To provide a concentrated two-week Bible training for evangelists and teachers (who do not require English or medical knowledge) to equip them in their ministries:
- Relate the Old and New Testament with respect to Christ as Saviour, Lord God and King, the return of Christ, and the priesthood of all believers.

Medical Skills Training—These trainees will be considered for the Barefoot Doctors training in the future.
- To equip indigenous people with basic medical skills enabling them to provide health and medicines for villages where they minister. To prepare potential candidates for the advanced Barefoot Doctor Program in Chiang Mai.
- Addiction and Recovery Training
- Combine the medical model of approaching addiction as a disease and the extremely successful twelve-step program; students will
- learn the twelve-step program
- understand the mechanics of addiction that affect both the body and the mind
- develop tools that will be very helpful in successful recovery
- learn the physical aspects of genetic, social and family background that may contribute to addiction.
- English Skills Training
- To give students an opportunity to review the basics of English, study skills, and missionary work, as follows:
- medical skills
- biblical studies
- as a candidate for the Operation Thai Inn Program (one year in Canada) for English language skills
Additionally, a one-week Bible course will be held, preceding or following the two-week program for those who have not taken the biblical studies course. It will be for 40 students who are very active in evangelism. The course will teach about the lives of the Patriarchs, major and minor Prophets and some early church leaders.
