FLC shared the Gospel in Taunggyi area and inland Myanmar in 2010. Evangelists also went to Mai Tauk village nearby InLe Lake to share the Gospel to the InTha people. They distributed Bible tracts and prayed. The evangelists were invited to come again and stay in their homes to tell them more about the Good News.
The evangelists also went down to Pyin Ma Na (Nay Pyi Taw), the new capital city of Myanmar. These evangelists visited a Rawang Christian family to encourage, pray, and share the Gospel together in that area. Their vision is to preach the Gospel and plant churches at Nay Pyi Taw.
In January 2011, the evangelists went to Chung gyi village and the Taung Thar area (inland Myanmar). These evangelists met the Kyaw Naing family (a new Christian family), shared and preached the Good News to villagers. They also visited house by house, and they were invited to revisit at Christmas time. Many villagers have accepted the Lord and Saviour.
FLC is conducting this leadership training in the villages twice a year. This includes Christian growth, discipleship training, prayer, church growth, and Christian family.
The training has strengthened, encouraged, and challenged the Karen church leaders. Revival has come to the district of Mae Chaem (also called Zion district). The Hui Bong Church is a model church, a large facility that can seat 400 people. Only lacking a ceiling in the Sunday School section, this building is almost complete with very attractive flooring that was laid down last year.
The congregation has 330 church members. Once a week in each home, they have prayer meetings for the families in the village. The church members are growing spiritually and tithing. However, the church has grown to where the building is too small for worship. Members decided to build a larger church building and put their money together to purchase a piece of land for this purpose. Now, they need to level the ground and purchase the nearby land to have enough space for the church building. This land is just above the water tanks built by the Bear Valley team. Pray for the funds to finish this church building project.
Bible Leadership Training 2010–2011—in January, training was held for all Thailand evangelists; in April, for Akha evangelists; in July, for Akha evangelists; in September, for Akha evangelists; in October, for Akha church elders; and in November, for all Thailand evangelists. These Bible training sessions are a great blessing for the evangelists and an encouragement to learn more of the Bible, tithe, and endurance in ministry.
Thanksgiving festivities were held in each village with many non-Christians attending and many from other Christian villages. Christmas and Easter celebrations were held in each village. They celebrated Father's Day and the King's Birthday for the first time in 2010. Thai officials attended along with people from other villages. Youth revival took place at Baan May Pattana which was a very effective outreach. Many young people were convinced by the messages and shared testimonies that they would change their lives and serve the Lord wholeheartedly. Because of the young people's testimonies and their sincere worship, many people decided to also serve the Lord more faithfully.
Every month, an evangelist visited an FLC Akha Christian village to encourage them.
This is a small village with only eight homes and 68 people. All attend Sunday worship services. They need a new church building as the present bamboo structure is not stable. The present location on top of the hill is difficult to access in the rainy season, and they would like to move the church building to a level area near the road. The villagers are very poor and need support to rebuild this church.
There are 38 homes and 198 church members in this village. In 2010 the church built a baptistery where nine people were baptized. The young people formed an evangelism team with the pastor and evangelized non-Christian villages in the Chiang Dao area. The young people are on fire for the Lord and evangelize, not only in the villages but also in the cities of Chiang Mai and Khong Kan. They use their gifts of singing, dancing, performing skits, and plays to get across the Gospel message along with music videos to deliver the Gospel message for evangelism.
The church members donated a lovely tile floor for the church building. They are supporting the pastor more than before and donating ten percent of their rice harvest to the pastor.
There are 18 homes and 98 church members in this village. The young pastor just graduated from the Akha Bible Seminary in Chiangrai, and he is being trained in the ministry. An FLC evangelist is now an assistant pastor to help in this area. The church members are tithing ten percent to the church. Coffee is being planted with profits to be donated to churches and to purchase church property—a great testimony to all members to tithe. These coffee plants were from the original coffee project begun by Daniel Kalnin. Now, other Akha church members and other villages are also growing coffee so they can tithe to their churches.
In this village there are 32 homes and 192 church members. They also built a baptistery in April 2011, where eight people were baptized. This pastor has an artificial leg because of a motorcycle accident, and he had an operation to make his artificial leg to fit more comfortably. He is now able to walk and move better than before.
Funds for evangelism—the evangelists have opened an account and are donating ten percent of their support for this project.
The evangelist to the Mien and Hmong taught the Bible and brought literacy to many Mien villages in Thailand. In Nong Dao village where there are Mien and Hmong people, three ladies accepted the Lord last year and are now studying the Bible. The evangelist and other team members went to Laos to visit and to evangelize in eight villages who are eager to study the Bible and become Christians.
Laos is a very restrictive Communist country where one could be put into prison for evangelizing. However, the evangelist and other team members are arranging to bring those most interested from Laos to Thailand for Bible and sewing training. They then return home and share the Gospel and teach others in their villages. This is safer and much more effective in the long term.
