Practical Training

English Language Instruction (ESL)

ESL courses empower and improve the quality of life of those we serve. The objective of this service is to extend God’s love by offering a highly valued practical skill. Our students range from young children with no educational opportunities to national evangelists and pastors seeking to improve their communication abilities.

Many young people use improved English skills to expand their employment opportunities. Evangelists and pastors are able to communicate directly with our Western co-labourers. Classes adhere to a curriculum based on North American teaching materials. Volunteer teaching staff have come from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Youth Education

FLC believes that educating children is a key to breaking the vicious cycle of poverty and creating a virtuous circle in which people able to support themselves, their families, their churches, and participate in their communities. This has resulted in programs such as Frontier Kindergarten, a school that provides basic and Christian instruction to pre-school children, and two Student Centers for impoverished youth to be trained in Thailand.

FLC supports educators and teachers in Myanmar (Burma) so that they have the means to provide quality education to their students. FLC also sponsors one high school, five kindergartens, and one orphanage in Myanmar.

Educating Through Media

Christian books and teaching materials have been translated and distributed to our FLC evangelists and churches regularly. Recently, we have added national music CDs and teaching videos to encourage and uplift Christians. In addition to our mission videos and the Frontier Messenger, FLC's prayer e-mail and website inform, encourage, and challenge our co-labourers worldwide.
Computers and video production equipment are available to our staff to improve their communication skills.

Fine Arts

We have provided courses in drawing and painting. Many of the tribal people value artistic mediums and simply need training to improve their skills for a vocation.

Textile Instruction

FLC is co-labouring with organizations to produce hand-crafted products for sale to tourists and for international markets. Please let us know if you can offer assistance in this area!

Health Education

Besides our long-running and successful Barefoot Doctors program, we provide basic hygiene training and preventative care.

Agricultural Development Training

We provide agricultural development and training for individuals and villages to improve crop production—replacing highly labour intensive and socially harmful opium production with profitable, local economy-building crops that encourage health villages and family life.
